Holly Ridge actively participates in missions as directed by our Lord and Savior (Matt 28.19, Acts 1.8) by praying, giving and going. A percentage of our weekly offering goes to the Cooperative Program which supports Southern Baptist missionaries around the world – the foundation of our giving. We also have several opportunities over the course of the year for short term mission trips. If you can’t go that far – no problem! You can pray and participate right here in Simpsonville.
Some examples:
International:
Brazil: Members have traveled for church related construction and evangelism in schools, usually in August. Locally, our youth and children have made crafts to support the teams’ gospel presentations.
Romania: Members have traveled for construction projects related to orphaned and abandoned children’s ministries. Here at home, members have sponsored Christmas gifts for orphanage children and collected donations during vacation bible school for orphan summer camp ministries. Opportunities abound in this year-round ministry.
Domestic:
Men on Mission: In recent years, several men in our church have joined forces with other likeminded men from various churches to build facilities for churches in need. These trips take place on Memorial Day week. Members unable to go have supported this good work with prayer and love offerings. In 2011, the team will be heading to Arkansas.
Disaster relief: Members have participated on disaster relief teams in cooperation with the Greenville Baptist Association. Prayer support and donation opportunities exist for those unable to go.
Local:
Boys Home of the South: To be “on mission” you don’t always have to take a long trip. Holly Ridge member Greg Gibbons has linked our church to this great ministry. Numerous opportunities exist to mentor resident boys and partner with their caregivers on various volunteer projects.
